1930s mahogany fireplace mantel
This fireplace mantel is a classic example of a Deco style that is very geometric and solid .
It has wide legs, with the neatly fluted outer section stepped back from the front face of the mantel.
The dropped shoulders of the mantel top and the raised central panel give this fireplace mantel a geometry that is associated with the Art Deco style that was prevalent in much 1930s design.
Made from mahogany, this mantel is a design that we offer as a reproduction, and as we have come across the same design several times we can assume it was a popular fireplace in the 1930s.
This particular mantel has a small abrasion on the top, and would benefit from refinishing by a french polisher.
This work is included in the advertised price, and offers the opportunity for a buyer to choose colour and level of finish.
